Dr. Andrew George is a science policy strategist with a PhD in biology from Duke University. He is the Civic Science Fellow at the Sigma Xi, Scientific Research Honor Society. With a background in research, consulting, and strategy.

Dr George brings expertise in science policy at local, state, and federal levels. In 2016 he led the establishment of the North Carolina STEM Policy Fellowship to place recent MA and PhD students in state agencies to serve as scientific advisors. During his time as a consultant and Executive Vice President for Strategy at Thrivner, Inc he worked with a number of government leaders to develop strategies and bold initiatives to tackle a range of societal challenges (e.g., delivering usable services, improving precipitation prediction, developing climate smart living marine resource management).
